A developer’s ‘dream block’ and a record-breaking penthouse were among a host of properties sold at the Sunshine Coast’s biggest auction event.
Eighteen properties changed hands for a combined $27.236 million at the Ray White Coastal Living Network Auction Event at Mercedes Benz in Maroochydore on Saturday.
More sales were expected to be made post-auction.
Auctioneer and Ray White Mooloolaba and Kawana Waters director James Goldsworthy said there was a buzz among the crowd.
“Witnessing the energy and excitement in the room as properties change hands is a testament to the allure of real estate auctions,” he said.
No.22 Brisbane Road, mooted as the ‘developer’s dream block’, was sold for $5.31 million after a bidding battle.
The 675sqm block, which is less than 200m from Mooloolaba Beach, includes six two-bedroom units.
Meanwhile, No.16/82-86 River Esplanade was sold for $4.59 million.
Hundreds of people attended the event at Mercedes Benz.
The Boondoola penthouse is also in prime position. It is a merger of three apartments that resulted in a single-level 306sqm penthouse.
The sale for it was the highest price achieved for a Mooloolaba penthouse not located on the beachfront.
There were 45 properties on offer at the event, with a 40 per cent clearance rate. There were more than 200 registered bidders, after more than 2500 buyer inspections were held this month.
Auctioneer and Ray White Maroochydore director Dan Sowden said it was a successful occasion.
“To sell $27 million of (properties) in one day is a result we are very proud of,” he said.
Since the event’s inception in 2015, the network has auctioned 438 properties, totalling $258 million in sales.
Around 400 attendees gathered at this year’s event, with a further 1800 online viewers tuned into the Facebook live stream.
The event was presented by more than 70 staff from the Ray White Coastal Living Network’s five offices (Maroochydore, Buderim, Mooloolaba, Kawana Waters and Nambour).
It was supported by Mercedes-Benz Sunshine Coast, realestate.com and Blink! Productions.
‘The Block Mooloolaba’ is in the heart of one of the nation’s most popular destinations.
